There is power in the book

What an amazing week we've had here in Guadalajara!

First, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for the prayers! (Especially for Dorita and Celina.) we finally were able to meet with Celina, and she has a baptismal date-WAHOOO! (Please keep praying for her if you can! Thank you!) 

The weather is starting to warm up here and we're bringing on the Madrid summer heat. This week, like every week has just flown by, and I honestly don't know where the time is going! There is so much to do, people to see, people to talk to, people to visit, and not enough time to get it all done! 

This week I wanted to tell a little experience about our friends, Sindi and Jose. 

Sindi and Jose have been investigating the church I think for like 5 years now? A long time. We meet with them every week, and they've been coming to church these past 2-3 months pretty consistently. A few weeks ago we had an amazing district meeting about the Book of Mormon and how powerful the Book of Mormon is. The spirit really touched me and I knew that it was what we needed to teach to Sindi and Jose. I was excited to share with my companion my thoughts but I remembered that they don't like to read but had been "listening" to the Book of Mormon. I knew this would take a little bit of thinking, prayer, and help from my father in heaven because we needed to be creative and help them find a way to read, listen, or some way to read the Book of Mormon... and what entered into my mind was the Book of Mormon videos for kids! Sindi and Jose LOVE videos and that's the best way for us to share the gospel with them. They're always wanting to watch videos the church has made and that's just the way they learn. (Well, good news, ME TOO! Especially the Book of Mormon videos for kiddos) so, we went to Sindi and Jose last week and shared the first video about what is the Book of Mormon and how we got the Book of Mormon. We left a little sticky note with the numbers 1-10 with them so they could watch a few of the videos before we came back the next week. This week, we prepared an actual calendar to give to them to help them keep track of where they're at. We went to the lesson, planning to watch the 2nd or 3rd video to follow up and continue, and do you know how many of them they watched??? They watched 17 of the videos!! They started telling us about everything the learned, the stories, the people, and everything! The spirit was so strong, I was so happy, we were so happy! When this happened all I could think about was Uncle Lee's talk last conference There is Power in the Book. There really is such an amazing power in the Book of Mormon and it is a book that I absolutely LOVE! Uncle Lee says in his talk, 

"Whether our testimony of the Book of Mormon comes the first time we open it or over a period of time, it will influence us all of our days if we continue to read it and apply its teachings. President Ezra Taft Benson taught: “There is a power in the book which will begin to flow into your lives the moment you begin a serious study of the book. You will find greater power to resist temptation. You will find the power to avoid deception. You will find the power to stay on the strait and narrow path.” 

There's something amazing about the Book of Mormon, and I don't think there are really words to explain, but there is just a power and a spirit in the Book of Mormon. When we have questions, (gospel related or not) the Book of Mormon has the answer because the spirit that the book has is so powerful! I testify that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and I invite you to 1, if you aren't ready it, PLEASE start. Today!! Even if it's just 1 verse a day. And if you already are reading, keep going! 

This week is going to be another great, running, busy week. Tonight we're headed to Madrid because we have a leadership meeting at the mission home with president and the leaders tomorrow. New transfers, new goals, and a lot of miracles to be seen! 

Can't believe 1 year ago today we talked for Mother's Day, and now it's here again??
