day 2 of the LIGHT THE WORLD

Hola hola! So first things first... with ILUMINA EL MUNDO (light the world) for Christmas, one of the days was about your parents.. I couldn't just pick the phone up and call you 2, or I could plan a video chat (soon thought!!!),  but I just wrote a little note. So....

December 2, 2016- Jesus honored his parents and so can you

Well. Today is December 2nd, day 2 of the LIGHT THE WORLD project that is going on for this years Christmas. There were a lot of different points I could "apply"... but not really because it was things like call your parents, send them a text, set up a video chat... and things like that. Haha well on the mission, sadly I can't just pick up the phone and make that call, or quickly do a chat... but I do have the blessing to have technology and to be able to write! (Haha on Monday's...) but I did write this on Friday, and I'm thinking it's ok, to take a minute and honor my parents.

I don't know if I show enough gratitude for you 2. But I am MORE THAN BLESSED, to have you 2 in my life. How did I get so lucky? Really. How? I know how, because I have a father in heaven who LOVES me.

Thank you 2 for being faithful in the gospel, in Jesucristo. Thank you for leading our family the right way. Thank you for our scripture study that we had (whether it was at night after sports or music, or in the morning before school while we were eating) thank you for the family prayers we had. Thank you for Sunday dinners, and dinner as a family every night.

I am who I am today because of you 2. My personality. My light. Who I am, is thanks to you two. And some could say that that is bad, but I feel so blessed.

Thank you for always supporting me. Whether it be in sports, music, school, anything and everything, but especially now in the mission. There are a lot of missionaries who don't have family support, or who have broken families at home and it really affects people here... I cant ever thank you enough. Thank you for loving each other. And for showing your love to our family. Thank you for working hard. For caring about us. Thank you for feeding us. Thank you for teaching us. (I say us, because I'm not only thanking from me... from my brothers too!) Thank you for your patience. Thank you for your trust. Thank you for your love. Thank you thank you thank you.

This week was another week here in Los Cristianos. There was a little bit of rain, and a lot of sunshine and heat the other days. We had Intercambios with the sister training leaders Thursday-Friday and I was with Hermana Modugno. She is from Italy and has been out for a little over a year. She is so cute, so funny, and has an amazing testimony and light of Christ within her. (Not only that, she makes amazing pasta!!)

It was good to take a quick step out of our area, but we always feel so blessed to be able to come back to our home here, our people, and back to our sandal weather. (Yes weather because it's cold in the north and still so hot here). I learned a lot from her and I was excited to come back home and work!

This week our friend Andrés moved back to Italia... we got to have a quick last lesson with him before he left and it was hard.. not a hard lesson,  it was emotionally hard for me to say goodbye to him. When I have to say goodbye to people, there's something in me, and my body not only hurts, it just aches. I'm grateful for the friendship we had with him, and I'm grateful that the seed of the gospel was planted into his heart.

So, our friend Elaine, has a baptismal date for this Saturday the 10th! This past week we were suppose to visit with her, and she ended up canceling because of medical. We tried calling her and texting her trying to reschedule and meet with her. We couldn't get a hold of her ALL week long and we were so nervous. We didn't know if we did something wrong? If she didn't want anything or what. After much prayer and some fasting... We finally got a text from her Friday night saying that she was so sorry it had been such a crazy week and she would see us on Sunday... she came to church, all is well and I think we're still good for the baptism this Saturday! We're going to see her tonight and we're excited! I'm so grateful for her and she is definitely a miracle from Heavenly Father.

Well, not too much is going on here. It's December and it's still hot, and I'm loving it. It's going to be weird not having a white Christmas, but I feel so blessed to be here with so many people I love. This next week I think is going to be a little bit more "normal" and we're excited to work and keep going.

I think one of my favorite things about the mission is solely focusing on the people here and my savior. This time is a time where I'm really learning HOW to put in practice the teachings of the gospel and HOW I can be more like my savior. This morning in my studies I came across some words in true to the faith...

"As you seek to be happy, remember that the only way to real happiness is to live the gospel. You will find peaceful, eternal happiness as you strive to keep the commandments, pray for strength, repent of your sins, participate in wholesome activities, and give meaningful service. You will learn to have fun within the limits set by a loving Father in Heaven” (True to the Faith, 79–80).

The gospel of Jesus Christ and the commandments we have are not a restriction, they are a protection from a father in heaven who is all knowing. During our time here on earth we are put through trials to help us grow, learn, have experience and to really rely on our father. Turn to him in all, he knows how to help, he knows what you need and he wants to help.

Ok. I think that's all I have? Sorry my letters aren't too exciting. What do you want to know? How can I be better at writing? Any response is great!

Have a great week, and remember the reason for the season!
