month 8, transfer 6!

Hello hello hello! How's everything? Every week here is a new adventure and something new going on. Another 6 weeks has come and gone... which means a new transfer and transfers usually mean changes.... so the change?! I'll be staying here  another transfer with my cute companion! I'm excited that I get to keep training and that I'll be in Los Cristianos for Christmas! Wahoo! The changes for our district is that our district leader, Elder Forsberg left. So now, we will have a new elder come in with Elder Knaphus. Hermana Jimenez, Elder Forsberg and I all came to Los Cristianos in July together, so things are changing and it's a little weird, but it's all good and I feel very blessed to be here. I love Los Cristianos and cherishing every warm Sunny day I have here.

This week was a big week for you all in America and with elections. Obviously we're not too into what's going on there and we don't really know a lot, but we quickly found out about what was going on and how things were. I've never been too into politics.... But I just wanted to share a scripture that I ran into this week...

doctrine and covenants 123:17--Therefore, dearly beloved brethren, let us cheerfully do all things that lie in our power; and then may we stand still, with the utmost assurance, to see the salvation of God, and for his arm to be revealed.

I love this scripture because we should cheerfully do all things that lie in our power and also trust in God when we are in the right. The greatest gift that our father in heaven has given us is our agency. We have the freedom to choose. Choose what we say. What we wear. What we're going to do. How we worship. How we act. We have the freedom and our agency to choose. This is a major blessing, but with agency, comes accountability as well. As missionaries, we work with a lot of people and no matter what we say, or how much we can prepare and study, they have their agency. They get to choose. Sometimes we rejoice in happiness, and other times there may be tears and frustration because we just want them to understand. I think this is how Heavenly Father feels a lot of the time; he rejoices when we choose the right and we're on the path, but when we make a mistake or maybe we don't follow the path, he doesn't get frustrated and give up on us... he patiently helps us along the way and he is always cheering us on, and picking us up. For this, I am so grateful and I feel so blessed to have that loving father in heaven.

But back to D&C. We have the gospel of Jesus Christ in our lives and that guide. Cheerfully keep the commandments. Cheerfully serve. Cheerfully love and do your part. Stay on the path and trust in God!

I always struggle to know what to write about and I'm never really sure what to share.. but this week we met with our cute friend Elaine, and she has a baptismal date! She is so receptive to the gospel and so eager to learn, read, and grow. Keep her in your prayers please!

This week I wanted to really focus on the sacrament and prepare for the special time and opportunity we have to participate in that time to think of our savior and renew our covenants that we have made. When we sang the hymn, I was overcome with emotion of peace and love from and for my Savior.

I know He lives.

I know He loves and knows each of us.

I know that through the atonement of our Savior Jesus Christ we can be forgiven and we can receive the strength, peace, and love that we need.

Welllllll

I'm headed off the meet the new elder and to a Noche De Hogar!

Tomorrow I will have been on the mission for 8 months?? Can you believe that??

I can't!

Here's to a new day. New week. New transfer!

Besitos... Hermanita Curtis
